So let me tell you how Plus Display came about.
Many moons ago before my hair turned grey I bought a printing franchise. In a couple of years my staff and I turned it into a very profitable business. At that time the franchisor decided that they wanted more than they were contractually entitled to, so I decided to set up my own business.
I started from scratch and went from strength to strength as a traditional litho design and print company. Then the internet came along and decimated the print industry, overcapacity meant the market became one huge price war with inevitable consequences. Companies no longer cared about the quality of the products they were producing and did not have the time or resources to service clients properly.
This is not the way I wanted to run a business, my aim has always been, not only to produce great quality products backed by phenomenal service and sell them at a great price but genuinely help clients to create business. We had to find an alternative market where we could use our expertise.
Where did the sudden change of direction come from?
It came out of the blue when I was returning from one of the nicest holidays I have ever had with my family, to the British Virgin Islands. I was walking through the airport and all of a sudden there were these things called banner stands alongside large format graphics. They were scattered everywhere throughout Heathrow. However they were poorly designed and produced. Curling edges, saggy panels, poor quality print, the list goes on…they looked so unprofessional. I dropped my family off at home and went straight back to work and started my research!
One month later I decided we could do a much better job and advise companies on how to do it better, help them create more business. We decided to diversify the business and Plus Display was born! We moved away from, although we still do, traditional print and changed our main source of business to portable exhibition stands, banner stands, pop up stands and custom built exhibition stands. With the focus on value for money, customer service and quite simply professional solutions that work. The ethos was if it does not help them create more business we would not sell it.
Many of the stands we sell are our own design and unique to us with all production, printing and assembly done at our factory here in Stoke on Trent.
